THE LADIES OF HARMONY
by Ron Hill
The ladies of Harmony Church, informally known as the “Kitchen Committee,” are preparing a funeral dinner for a man they didn’t know well and liked even less. Grace arrives straight from the beauty parlor with the news that Pastor Bob is marrying a go-go dancer from Cleveland and the gossip and speculation begins to fly. The fact that the women discover they have been drinking spiked coffee adds to the mayhem. Secrets are revealed, misconceptions flourish, but with perseverance, they manage to get through the funeral and bury old man Bowers. Written by Ron Hill, a member of Fremont Community Theatre and author of PCT’s hit from last year, “House For Sale’, this warm comedy is sure to bring a smile to your face and have you chuckling all night long.
Director Millie Butts will hold auditions September 17 & 18, 2007.
Productions dates are November 8-11 & 15-18, 2007

Ladies Night Out

THE KING AND I
Music by Richard Rogers
Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Based on “Ana and The King of Siam” by Margaret Landon
Original choreography by Jerome Robbins
Mrs. Anna Leonowens, a widow from Wales arrives in Bangkok in the 1860’s with her young son to teach English to the children of the royal household of Mongkut, the King of Siam.  The King desires very much to absorb western knowledge, but is sometimes conflicted over how to reconcile western ways with his own. His efforts to do this, unadmitted even by himself, are further hindered by his minister, who wishes to keep Western influence out of the court. Meanwhile, Anna develops an affection for King Mongkut, as he does for her. The combination of royalty and romance in an exotic land of many years past, with its stunning costumes and memorable melodies create a spectacular palette of sight and sound.
This well loved musical opened on Broadway in 1951 and was the fourth hit out of five collaborations for the team of Rogers and Hammerstein. It ran for 1,246 performances, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical, among other awards.
Director Marty Williams will hold auditions January 2 & 3, 2008.
Productions dates are February 28-29, March 1-2, 6-9, & 13-16, 2008

ON GOLDEN POND
by Ernest Thompson
This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Gold Pond for the 44th year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory – but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, and the perfect foil for Norman, delights in all the small things which they have enriched, and continue to enrich their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the “grandchild” the elderly couple longed for, and as Norman revels in taking the ward fishing and thrusting god books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness - and slang.
Director Nadine Jensen will hold auditions May 20 & 21, 2008.
Productions dates are July 10-13 & 17-20, 2008
